2023 Fellows Week

This summer, LLF launched its inaugural Fellows Week program tailored for our annual cohort of fellows to facilitate connections, knowledge sharing, skill building and career development. Our fellowship program goes beyond building students’ technical skills and exposure to world-class science; it seeks to empower our fellows to consider a rewarding and impactful STEM career and contributes to the nation’s critical STEM pipeline needed to solve issues of national and global importance.

NEURO DISEASE NEWS

Data Science Fellow’s Project Informs
Neuro Disease Research

LLF Fellow Ryan Lee built a machine learning algorithm to craft a replica of the human gut microbiome using data analysis and gene classification. The goal was to strengthen and accelerate neuro-disease prediction capabilities without the need for more costly clinical tests with human subjects.

CLIMATE SOLUTIONS

LLF, LLNL, & CSUB Working to Advance Clean Energy

In September, LLF, LLNL, and California State University Bakersfield (CSUB) signed a MOU agreement to collaborate on advanced and clear-energy technologies, research opportunities and community partnerships that have the potential to share the future of energy in the state and bring high-quality jobs to the region.

Supported by a ~$1M grant from the University of California (UC), LLF is working with LLNL to scale up climate technology solutions and promote climate research, education, and entrepreneurship around the new carbon economy by investing in student fellows and innovative research teams.
