CLIMATE CONVERSATIONS

What is the Future of Agriculture in California?

The Livermore Lab Foundation, in conjunction with Climate Now and The Maddy Institute, recently hosted a very successful one-day conference on ‘The Future of Agriculture’ at Fresno State. The event featured LLNL scientists Jennifer Pett-Ridge and George Peridas, as well as California Secretary of Food and Agriculture, Karen Ross. The summit provided an opportunity for key agricultural stakeholders to discuss California’s net-neutrality goals and the challenges related to water, policies, subsidies and pricing. Central to those discussions was the science framework found in LLNL’s Getting to Neutral report, which identifies opportunities for California to reach carbon neutrality by 2045.
